Calling all headhunters: Logicalis seeks UK chief technology officer

Must eat, breathe and sleep biz tech...

The essential guide to IT transformation

Headhunters are scouring the length and breadth of the UK landscape to find a chief techie officer for managed services bigwig Logicalis, El Chan can report.

Company stalwart Chris Gabriel is CTO at group level but the operation in Blighty has not had someone in an equivalent local role since Simon Daykin moved into the aviation industry as chief architect 15 months ago.

Richard Aston, veep of services at Logicalis UK, who joined the business from Fujitsu UK in the spring, said a number of people in the organisation had worked around the "edges of that CTO area".

"I want to drive out a strategy of where we are going, how are we going to get there and also the sorts of areas we'll be investing in. But to do that justice you've got to have someone with ownership of [the CTO role]".

Some CVs have already landed on its desk, and Aston said that finding someone with the right mix of talents was not straightforward: it wants a techie that can conceptualise the business benefits of using the technology that Logicalis sells.

It has been a busy couple of months for Logicalis, what with the recruitment of Aston, the more recent addition of Tony Brooker to head up sales and marketing, and the exit of CEO Garry Bullard.

Former COO Mark Rogers has been care-taking the top role since Bullard upped sticks and left after 60 days on the job. ®
