CMS Distribution warehouse BORG underway

'Expect no disruption people, only a better service'

CMS Distribution says it is working to minimise any impact of the warehouse consolidation taking place this summer.

The storage, networking and infrastructure wholesaler currently operates two depots – one in North West London and one in Harrogate – but will now move to a single site in Castleford, West Yorkshire.

In a note sent to trade customers this week, CMS group operations director Paul Roughly, said the move will start next month and be wrapped up by the end of August.

"The consolidation of these warehouses will enable us to provide an improved services to you over the coming months and years by eradicating multiple courier consignments for you orders, increasing the overall resilience of the logistics chain and, more importantly, provide us with more warehouse capacity to stock more product lines from existing vendors and recruit more vendors in the future," he said.

The move is also likely to help cut overheads but we have yet to get details about the size of the warehouse

In such instances, it is not unknown for deliveries to be delayed amid the upheaval and CMS is mindful that trade customers are "not negatively impacted as a result of the implementation of this project".

"As such, we are undertaking a cautious and phased implementation approach," he said.

Roughly added: "We are planning the necessary inventory transfers in such a manner that product availability is not affected".

We contacted CEO Frank Salmon and he insisted, "There will be no disruptions to delivery."

The Channel understands CMS is going through a consultation period with some warehouse staff but was unable to comment further at this time. ®
