Watch: Kids slam Apple as 'BORING, the whole thing is BORING'
Are you listening, Tim? Millions have seen this
Vid Show an Apple II computer to a bunch of kids and film their reactions for YouTube. What could go wrong?
If there's one thing more annoying than children, it's creaking old technology. So those of a sensitive disposition should probably look away now, because one viral-video team has decided to combine these two weapons of mass irritation.
The Fine Bros, a pair of sibling Youtubers, have made a whole series of videos in which kids react to various things. So far they have reacted to ludicrous novelty record One Pound Fish, which they seemed to like; gay marriage, which they also appeared to dig; and a Walkman, the tape-playing ancestor of the iPod. It's safe to say they were, like, totally unimpressed with Sony's effort because, duh, cassettes.
Ain't nobody got time for dat, sorry, DAT.
So what did the happy children of modern day America make of the Apple II computer, a system that went on sale in 1977?
"Three decades ago I would have loved to to have this, but now it is just a foot stool," one child remarked.
"It's very hipster," said one child. "Kind of like a a boxy telly."
Built into a beige case with all the beauty of a wet Milton Keynes morning, the Apple II came with a MOS Technology 6502 CPU which waltzed along at 1MHz, and had support for up to 64KB of RAM. Of course, the kids didn't know this.
Other youngsters were flummoxed by the concept of a floppy disk, and they also struggled with the number of buttons. What they didn't have any difficulty doing was speaking on camera, proving this writer's suspicion that Americans are trained to act on telly from the minute they emerge from the womb.
"The games are boring, the stuff is boring and the whole thing is boring," a super confident young boy concluded. "I don't get it, and I don't get the 1970s."
No one did, lad. No one did. ®
