VMware channel guru steps out of channel for first time in career
Ed Dolman takes reins of enterprise sales team at virty player
VMware's UK and Ireland channel boss Ed Dolman is taking on a new role to run one of the virtualisation kingpin's enterprise end-user sales teams.
The man confirmed his departure to the world, well Twitter followers, this morning after spending some two and a half years in the position
"An exciting change of role for me today. I am moving on from the Channel role to run one of the VMware Enterprise sales teams in the UK!," he posted.
Dolman is set to control a team of a sales team that specifically concentrates its fire power into verticals including insurance, e-gaming, financial services and retail.
Prior to heading up VMware's overall partner organisation in Blighty, Dolman was the local distribution chief for one and a half years.
And even further back in time he held various channel roles at Symantec, Philips and SMC, so this part of the industry is clearly in the man's blood.
We contacted Dolman but as is the case with most vendors these days, he was unable to discuss the matter without a PR present. We'll update when possible.
A PR spokeswoman confirmed Dolman's appointment to head up UK enterprise tier 2 sales, a newly created rolled.
She said Dolman will continue to work with VMware's partners.
"Richard Kerr, director, northern EMEA, partners and general Business, will assume Ed’s role within the UK until a new UK & Ireland channel head is appointed." ®
