Arise, iDame: Incoming Apple retail boss Angela Ahrendts set for honorary award

Businesswoman prepares to swap out one mac for another

Angela Ahrendts, who is about to upload her wealth of fashionista knowledge to Apple as its freshly installed retail chief, will collect a Dame of the British Empire award in the next few weeks.

The American national was drafted in by the iPad and iPhone maker to a new role at Apple to head up its worldwide retail and online sales biz in October last year.

She won't take on the post until this Spring as she is winding up her current job as CEO of British fashion label Burberry.

Her damehood was reportedly approved by the Queen late last year, but has only now come to light.

It's understood that a minister at the department for Business Innovation and Skills will dish out the award to Ahrendts. ®
