IT Services unit restructures again in pursuit of higher profits
A restructure at Capita IT Services is long overdue - well it has been eight whole months since the last one - so the healing mitts of MD Peter Hands have once again grasped the org chart for a rejig.
Hands has created five ITS "services towers" under which Capita's wider business units will fall, to give the heads of each division more "accountability" over the success and failure of their work.
In a memo to staff, seen by The Channel, the boss said 2013 has been a "significant" time for ITS, with Command and Control centres set up across the business to monitor service performance, the creation of the Capita Private Cloud IaaS platform, and a growing pipeline of deals.
"As we close 2013 and prepare for 2014, I am making some changes to our senior management team and organisational structure to mobilise our resources and effectively manage this growth," said Hands.
The services towers include: End User services run by Steve Ward; Public Sector & Health led by Nick Wilson; and Technology Solutions headed by Simon Furber.
New faces are also joining CITS: former Cables & Wireless board member Patrick Bradd joined on 5 November to run Network Managed tower; and ex-Fujitsu Live Services director Jayne Eagle will run the applications, cloud and enterprise tower.
Bradd replaces Steve Rick, who will remain in the senior management team as transformation director, confirmed Hands, who added:
"A key feature of this new structure is that each tower will have full profit and loss accountability. That means that each managing director will have full accountability, responsibility and authority for their business."
Eagle is set to rock up at Capita ITS on 2 December.
Elsewhere in the world of Capita, Southampton City Council has extended its IT and business processing contract with the firm for a further five years in a deal valued at £12m in total. ®
