Samsung UK computing chief leaves for HP PC biz

Samsung computing GM serving notice before jumping ship

HP has plugged the gap in its local printer and PC biz following the exit of channel sales director Pascal Bourguet with Samsung UK computing GM Damian Cusick, The Channel can reveal.

Popular channel figure Bourguet was handed a European remit with HP in August when he was made EMEA veep of the consumer PC biz.

Cusick is currently working out his notice period at Samsung where has headed up the computing segment since May 2011.

"The opportunity came up in one of the biggest and best sales jobs in the industry and I'm looking forward to starting in the New Year," he said, when contacted by The Channel.

HP remains the top dog in UK sales stakes though, in Q2 shipments via distribution slumped 17.7 per cent – the only major vendor to shrink in the channel – leaving it with a market share of 26.6 per cent, down from 36.7 per cent.

Former Printing and Personal Systems global chief Todd Bradley was sidelined earlier this year, as Aussie Dion Weisler was brought into the frame to boost business, and take on rivals.

Cusick will be instrumental in helping to rebuild channel sales, following the foundations laid by PPS UK boss Paul Hunter and Bourguet is vowing to drive more business through partners.

An HP spokeswoman said "we're yet to announce Pascal's replacement. Will come back asap if there's any update on this". ®
