Fear the JOBZILLA! 150ft STATUE of Steve planned 'lest fanbois forget'

Apple biz tyrant to be IMMORTALISED in towering form ... if $50,000 raised

The world's most fervent fanbois have launched a campaign to build a massive icon of Apple Godhead Steve Jobs that could end up bigger than the Statue of Liberty.

Passionate iZealots have launched a fundraising drive on crowdfunding site Indiegogo, aiming to raise $50,000 to build a life-sized statue. If they manage to raise more than this sum, the plan is to build an even bigger image of Jobs that could reach "Colossus of Rhodes proportions", potentially rising to more than 150 feet tall.

Describing themselves as the "bearers of his legacy", the organisers of the crowdfunded project have not yet identified themselves, saying only that they are young entrepeneurs working in San Francisco.

The uber-fanbois wrote: "The memory of Steve Jobs is a source of inspiration. His humble origins, personal imperfections and the turbulence of his career make his story relatable; his prolific, world-changing career make his story admirable. Steve Jobs had flaws and was knocked down in his career. He responded by rising to even greater heights: developing life-changing, genre-defining products, revolutionizing industries, and creating billions of dollars of economic value. Steve Jobs put the emphasis on innovation and creating what has never been created.

"The memory of Steve Jobs is of someone for whom we relate to his lows and can aspire to reach the heights he attained. Steve Jobs once said he wanted to “leave a dent in the universe. He lived up to that and had an immense impact during his lifetime."

The man certainly left a dent - mainly in people's wallets.

Fanbois and gurlz who divert their pocket money into funding the statue can expect a number of perks. Hand over $200 and you'll get a black turtleneck sweater, Jobs' trademark piece of clothing.

Anyone who donates the creepy sum of $666 - the price of the Apple 1 computer - will have an "input into the exact design and construction of the statue".

Fork out $1995 and you will be given an invite to a VIP event celebrating the unveiling of the statue, which is bound to be emotional, according to statue supporters.

They added: "His passing is still relatively recent and the memory still fresh in our imaginations. Now is the time to capture our sentiments and express them before their potency fades through time. This statue is intended to instantiate the admiration we have before we forget."

There's already been a bronze statue of Steve Jobs built in Budapest, which shows him making a curious hand gesture reminscent of those made by gangsta rappers.

It was this that inspired the Indiegogo drive, who will hopefully aim for a better likeness than the Hungarian one, which looks a little bit like Jobs has been lightly burned at the stake.

"We can't say that we have extensive prior statue building experience," the fervent fanbois continued. "We're just huge Steve Jobs fans. We'll work with experts to make this happen."

The statue will be put up somewhere in the Bay Area, with a poll held to determine the exact location.

Crowdfunding has already enabled the creation of a statue of Robocop in Detroit, which is almost complete. ®
