Big Blue man Hansford to straddle saddle of Azlan's UK horse
Will he be able to whip more sales out of trusty nag?
Computer 2000 is preparing to usher on board IBM old hand Gareth Hansford to take control of its enterprise tech wing Azlan, say sources.
The position was vacated by previous incumbent Colin McGregor in March last year and handed to Nigel Dunn, but sources told us Dunn has resigned and is working his notice period.
IBM informed staffers today that Hansford, Euro channel software boss is leaving the organisation at the end of this week, according to an internal memo seen by The Channel.
"After three decades Gareth Hansford, vice president of the Software Group channel in Europe will leave IBM on 5 July to take on a leadership sales role within Tech Data in the UK," the memo says.
Channel contacts told us that IBM veteran Hansford has strong experience in the enterprise market, though this was gained in vendor land and not within distributor companies.
Hansford joined IBM in 1982 and has held various director roles within the software and hardware business groups, leaving Big Blue in 2003 to head up Lenovo UK, Ireland, Netherlands and South Africa for four years before returning.
Azlan was not available to comment at the time of writing. ®
