A Pennsylvania couple have been cuffed after apparently picking a very unfortunate moment to engage in an al fresco coupling. The luckless pair were arrested by not one, not two, but a whopping 25 bike coppers.

According to this report, Richard McBride, 37, and Jennifer Harvey, 41, were spending time in a softball field bench in a public park in Upper Derby on Tuesday afternoon, and were allegedly giving it some stick when a cycling plod pack hoved into view.

The unfortunate pair were sighted by participants in the Upper Darby Police Department's annual police bike unit course, which had taken to the streets for their own ride, albeit a two-wheeled training exercise.

Police Superintendent Michael Chitwood told a local Delaware website: "She had her pants off and he had his pants down to his ankles, and they were having sex when the police rode into the park. Imagine their surprise. Both the couple and the bike officers were surprised."

For those of you who prefer your details a tad more gory, try this version of a stunned Chitwood's description of events: "There's a bench, she is bent over the bench and our friend is behind her with his pants down to his ankle, banging away."

Although no members of the public saw the alleged horndogs going at it hammer and tongs, they were cuffed for for "open lewdness and disorderly conduct" and released on bail pending an appearance before the beak on 10 July. ®
