HSBC in the UK is suffering an unexplained outage across a number of systems today.

Brit customers have had their cards declined and experienced problems using internet banking and the fast balance app.

A spokesperson for the bank told The Reg: "We're aware that some customers are experiencing problems and we're looking into it."

The first tweets started rolling in the last hour to @HSBC_UK_Help asking the bank why customer transactions were being declined.

The bank tweeted:

HSBC representatives have contacted the Reg saying that they believe the problems are fixed, but our readers continue to experience problems. ®
