Have your users managed to force iOS devices on you?

Check this, it might stop them losing all the data

Next gen security for virtualised datacentres

NetApp has used its acquired IonGrid technology to provide iOS mobile devices with access to file data stored on its FAS arrays, along with browser access to business apps.

Apple iPad and iPhone users will have an App Store app they can use to log into their corporate system, using Active Directory or a multi-factor authorisation system, gaining secured access to data stored on Netapp FAS filers.

Users can, if permitted by their sysadmins, annotate documents and sync files to local encrypted storage on their iDevice for offline use. NetApp Connect includes a business internet browser for access to business apps on a company's intranet. All data can remain on your premises if your IT department wishes, while delivering, NetApp says, "consumer-class simplicity and ease of use to the enterprise":

NetApp Connect users can easily stream, view, download, edit, and pass on corporate information securely and directly from their iOS devices (including iPhone, iPad, and iPad mini) in seconds, whether it’s on file shares, on Microsoft SharePoint, or served by Intranet web applications. All documents appear on the screen with pixel-perfect rendering and with the overall look and feel preserved for brand consistency. This enables mobile devices to become a seamless part of the workflow and increase user productivity.

There's a more detailed walk-through demo video available as well:

NetApp will add support for other mobile devices to NetApp Connect and El Reg's storage desk reckons Android support is the next obvious waypoint. ®
