Microsoft crowns Barclay as new queen of UK channel

Unthroned Ridgway heading to Latin America as veep

Microsoft veteran Clare Barclay has confirmed that she is to head up the UK and Ireland channel as current incumbent Barry Ridgway heads off to Latin America.

Channel oldtimer Barclay has been director of SMB for a number of years and knows the UK partner network well.

She told The Channel that Ridgway is heading off to Microsoft's operation in Latin America in a veep capacity and that she was to succeed.

But with a young child in tow - Barclay was on holiday, not at the creche in the UK HQ Thames Valley Park - she was unable to comment further. This is undoubtedly good training for dealing with some of Microsoft's channel partners.

Ridgway assumed overall control of Microsoft's local partner network back in the summer of 2010, replacing Scott Dodds who moved to run the marketing ops.

He had come across from Microsoft in the US where he had been a business manager reporting to COO Kevin Turner. ®

Update

Microsoft has been in touch to confirm that Barclay has been appointed as GM for small, medium solutions and partner group (SMS&P), basically the head honcho for channel.

She joined the firm in 1998 as a channel marketing manager and moved into various services roles in the UK and EMEA.

“Having worked in SMS&P for the last 8 years, I’m excited by the opportunity ahead of working with our partners in the UK as we drive towards the transformation of a devices and services organisation.”
