Still-living, unincarcerated Ted Nugent invited to Barack Obama gig
Gun-loving rocker to attend State of the Union address
Ted Nugent - the rocker famed for deploying Marshall stacks and hunting rifles to equally deadly effect - will attend Barack Obama's State of the Union address later today.
Last year, the "conservative activist" guitarist got himself into a bit of bother with the Secret Service when he declared he'd be "dead or in jail" if Obama secured re-election. This apparently doesn't prevent him from accepting an invitation from Texas Republican Representative Steve Stockman to check out what El Prez has to say in the House of Representatives this afternoon.
Stockman's agenda is pretty clear. Last month, he threatened to impeach Obama if the President used executive action to force through new gun-control laws. Describing the move as an infringement on US citizens' "constitutionally-protected right to keep and bear arms" and "an unconscionable attack on the very founding principles of this republic", Stockman vowed to " thwart this action by any means necessary".
He enthused in a statement: "I am excited to have a patriot like Ted Nugent joining me in the House Chamber to hear from President Obama. After the address I'm sure Ted will have plenty to say." ®
