'Upgrade' biffs customers out of accounts
Natwest's business banking site Bankline  went down last night after undergoing "maintenance" for a little longer than expected. The service that helps businesses manage their finances bobbed back up circa 10.20am this morning. The consumer facing side of the site displayed this message:
One biz customer was told "an upgrade last night had broken the website", when he phoned Natwest this morning to arrange wage payments. He was instructed to wait for two hours and then keep trying it.
On Twitter @NatWest_Help  acknowledged the problem in a tweet at 9.20am. "Hi Sophia, sorry the site is not back up and running yet. I have raised this with the team. VB"
We've asked Natwest for a comment on the causes of the site glitch, and as of publication have not heard back. ®
