Scotland Yard cops investigating criminal breaches of privacy manacled two men early this morning.

A 58-year-old man - whose occupation was not revealed - was arrested at his home in Surrey and was expected to be interviewed at a south London police station later on Tuesday.

The Met added that it had also cuffed a 61-year-old man, who is a journalist, at his home in Kent. He will be quizzed at a local police station.

Meanwhile, searches are taking place at both the suspects' home addresses.

The Yard said in a statement:

Both [men] were arrested shortly before 7am at their home addresses for offences under Section 3 of the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and Sections 1 & 2 of the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000.

This morning's cuffings were part of an investigation dubbed "Kalmyk", which is probing "journalism related computer hacking" and is connected to the Met's Operation Tuleta inquiry.

Op Tuleta, which has so far netted 16 suspects, is being run in conjunction with allegations of phone hacking offences at Rupert Murdoch's British newspaper empire - News International. ®
