Samsung today conceded it was wrong to remove the universal search function from Galaxy S III phones in its latest software update - and has promised punters in the UK another firmware patch will restore the functionality.
“The most recent software upgrade for the Galaxy S III in the UK included the inadvertent removal of the universal search function," said the company in a statement.
"Samsung will provide the correct software upgrade within the next few days.”

Earlier this week, Samsung pushed an S III stability update that disabled the universal search function [1] - the tool that allows users to search both the web and the device from a single search bar.
This was presumed to be a preemptive move amid the South Korean electronics giant's ongoing patent spat with Apple: it was thought Samsung wanted to prevent any attempt to ban sales of its handsets while court proceedings drag on, and on and on [2]. ®
