SaaS data loss: The problem you didn’t know you had

Another Microsoft Windows Phone executive has jumped ship for Amazon.

Robert Williams, a WinPho business development boss, has left Redmond and tweeted [1] he’s now “at work” at the online shopping centre. Williams had been with Microsoft at least until May.

The move comes as reports suggest the retailer-turned-e-book-maker is building its own mobile [2] to rival Apple's iPhone.

In February, Microsoft’s Windows Phone unit lost Brandon Watson [3], its head of developer experience who was working on Windows Phone 7, to Amazon. Watson had been a big cheerleader for Windows Phone among dev types.

Watson’s LinkedIn bio says he’s now an Amazon director working on product management for the Kindle software business for first- and third-party devices.

Watson’s role involves putting Kindle apps on devices including Windows Phone, Android and iOS devices. ®
