Our generous gift of the oxygen of publicity today goes out to Dixons, which this morning forecast that Brits will be able to buy not only Amazon's Kindle Fire [1] but also a "mystery" Apple product by Christmas.
Not exactly staggering leaps of the imagination, you might reasonably think, given the flood of rumours concerning the 'iPad Mini' and Amazon's possible response to both a smaller Apple tablet and the imminent Google Nexus 7 [2].
The Kindle Fire is, at least, a shipping product, but one thus far only available Stateside. That didn't stop Dixons showing off some accessories for the device at a showcase event today, implying that it expects the Fire's UK debut to take place in the near future.
About time too: the US release took place in October 2011. Indeed, so long ago was that - in tech market terms - that Amazon UK will ignore the Fire here and skip straight to the soon-to-be-announced - if rumours are to be believed - Fire 2.
Let's hope all the cases Dixons have bought still fit. ®
