A dismantled Nokia sign at Oulu's Technology Village, Finland
Reg reader Andy Crofts snapped the above picture - after re-arranging the Nokia sign to read "ONKIA", the Finnish verb to fish with a rod and line.
Andy was inspired by a story on YLE [1], Finland's public broadcaster, about the downgrading of Nokia's credit status. "It was the photo that got me," he says.
"The article gave me a clue that I could find that sign about five kilometres away. Took about an hour to locate it. Unfortunately, it was too heavy to steal, especially as I had only a bike, and my mate with a pickup was far too rat-faced to nick it.
So...NOKIA - 'Connecting People'
So...ONKIA - 'Disconnecting Fishes'Didn't take much thinking, just a lot of muscle power."
Thanks Andy, well worth the effort. ®
