Steve Jobs' death clears way for Broadway star to play Woz

But we STILL don't know who'll play Ballmer

Reducing the cost and complexity of web vulnerability management

Sticking with their casting policy of picking actors-who-look-quite-a-lot-like-the-character, the makers of the Steve Jobs biopic are in talks with tubby TV funnyman Josh Gad for the part of Steve Wozniak.

The biographical movie, simply titled Jobs, will detail the life of billionaire biz baron adored Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, and is expected to start production this May. Ashton Kutcher, who will play the eponymous turtlenecked hero, will be on a break from his role in TV show Two and a Half Men, industry mag Variety reported.

Gad's Broadway career is a world apart from that of Apple co-founder Wozniak, who in the mid-1970s designed the microcomputers that launched the fruity tech titan's business empire.

Gad is not quite as well known as Kutcher, but he has been seen around more lately. As well as starring in musical The Book of Mormon, he's appeared on The Daily Show and alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the 2010 movie Love and Other Drugs. Gad has three movies in post-production right now, including Thanks for Sharing, a film about sex addiction that also stars Gwyneth Paltrow and Mark Ruffalo, and Ice Age: Continental Drift, the latest instalment in the apparently unstoppable franchise.

But all of that will pale into insignificance in the likely cultish response to Jobs, providing of course that Gad can grow the requisite Wozesque beard. ®
