The Internet Society has announced its inaugural Internet Hall of Fame featuring web stars who've helped literally make the internet.
Publication of the list, which will become an annual event, has seen the likes of TCP/IP daddy Vint Cerf inducted alongside Van Jacobson who helped make TCP/IP scale and prevent the web’s collapse. Also up there is web inventor Tim Berners-Lee.
Top Penguin Linus Torvalds, Craigslist chief Craig Newmark and Mozilla Foundation chair Mitchell Baker also feature among its ranks.

The Hall of Fame is intended to “recognize a distinguished and select group of visionaries, leaders and luminaries who have made significant contributions to the development and advancement of the global Internet".
The inaugural inductees were announced on 23 April at the Internet Society’s Global INET conference in Geneva, Switzerland. The Internet Society describes its mission as promoting the "open development, evolution, and use of the Internet for the benefit of all people throughout the world". It claims 55,000 members and 130 member organisations. ®
