Toshiba Exceria SDXC card

Toshiba will release what it claims is the world's fastest SD card this summer.

Branded Exceria, the card will use the UHS-I specification that's part of the SD Card 3.01 standard. This will give the card a Class 10 speed rating.

That means minimum read and write speed of 10MBps in a UHS-compatible reader, but Toshiba claimed the cards will achieved a maximum read speed of 95MBps and a maximumwrite speed of 90MBps.

That's for the SDHC version, out in July in 8, 16 and 32GB capacities. An SDXC release is scheduled for August, with 16, 32 and 64GB cards in the line-up, but these have a max write speed of 60MBps. The 64GB card is formatted with exFAT - the others are FAT32 devices.

The first Exceria cards will be out in April, in 8, 16 and 32GB capacities, but these products have a max write speed of 30MBps.

UK pricing and availability has yet to be set. ®
