Agentless Backup is Not a Myth
Amid all the iPad 3 hoopla comes some Mac news: Apple is said to be "considering" the introduction of a 14in MacBook Air.
Asians in particular favour 14in machines [1], local site DigiTimes notes, in contrast to Western buyers, who favour 15-inchers.
The Air is currently available with a choice off 11in and 13in display, but there are already rumours that Apple has a skinny 15in model in the works [2]. Why, then, bother with the one in the middle?
Well, why not? If there's a market for it - the Orient if not the Occident - produce the thing.
On the other hand, Apple is famous for maintaining a small, neat array of products, and starting to add more varieties, even if there's demand for it, might be seen as a violation of Jobs Law of Simplicity.
Putting a 14in screen into the 13in chassis [3] may be a way to resolve the problem, as LG and others have done.
Then again, the Asian moles cited by DigiTimes claim the company is merely thinking about such a move, and we're sure Apple thinks about a lot of products, but doesn't go on to bring them to market. ®
