Samsung's refreshed Series 9 laptop has been given a release date, with the compact notebook set to land on consumers' laps as early as next week.

The second-generation Series 9 returns to the fray as the world's thinnest premium notebook, the company claims.

The unibody 13in device is just shy of 13mm in height and weighs a mere 1.16kg. It boasts an Intel Core i5 processor and up to 4GB of memory with a 128GB SSD.

The new Series 9 now runs the distance with up to ten hours' battery life and features a display with anti-reflective coating for a non-gloss look.

There's also a Fast Boot Feature which has been improved to start the machine up in just 1.4 seconds, while the company promises an improved browser, twice the speed of its S9 predecessor [1].

The Samsung Series 9 hits John Lewis shops on 25 February for £1200 and will roll out to other UK retailers later in the year. ®
