Skinny 15in MacBook Pro launch tied to Intel 'Ivy Bridge'
Awaiting next-gen Ultrabook chippery
Apple may release the previously rumoured ultra-thin 15in MacBook Pro in Q2 2012, if claims that component makers have begun sending it sample parts for the machine are true.
Air or Pro? The machine's branding isn't known, and since the kit will be same no matter what it's called, the moniker doesn't really matter.
Expect an SSD rather than an HDD and no optical drive. If the production timeframe is correct, it will almost certainly use Intel's upcoming 'Ivy Bridge' processor line , which is also due in Q2 2012.
Acer is working on a 15in Ultrabook - Intel's trademark brand for skinny laptops - and will have it out in Q2, says DigiTimes. Again, the release is tied to the launch of Ivy Bridge. ®
