Opera CTO Håkon Wium Lie showed the page-reading support in an impressive demo. A few sites currently implement page reading, but Lie says it takes “thousands of lines of Javascript”. Opera’s innovation is extending various tags to simplify this greatly.
Opera will submit these to the W3C, and hopes they’ll eventually become standards. Much more on this later. ®
