Steve Jobs died at home from respiratory arrest and a pancreatic tumor, according to his death certificate, which was obtained by The Wall Street Journal [1].

The certificate notes that Jobs died [2] at 3pm on Wednesday, October 5. Shortly afterward, Apple placed his image on its home page, linked to a brief statement [3] announcing his death.

As reported previously, Jobs was buried during a small, private ceremony [4] on Friday, October 7, at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park [5] in Palo Alto.

In a memo to Apple employees, the WSJ reports, Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that Apple will hold an employees-only memorial event at the Apple campus at 10am Pacific time on Wednesday, October 19.

That event, as Cook wrote in a public announcement [6] on October 5, will be "a celebration of Steve’s extraordinary life." ®
