Android tablets can now play with a beta version of mobile Firefox, complete with desktop synchronisation, proper tabbed browsing and all the other UI goodies promised.
The usual cautionary notes apply – these are nightly builds made available for bug tracking and reporting, so downloaders should expect a reasonable amount of failure. Mozilla is hoping that will generate a lot of feedback, and perhaps even recruit some new developers to the open-source project.
The tablet space is seeing a good deal of innovation in browsing interfaces, and Firefox has made some controversial decisions about the best way to replicate the desktop experience on a fondleslab, but new ideas are to be welcomed even if they sometimes take a little getting used to. ®
