RIM updates PlayBook OS

Got a BlackBerry PlayBook? Research in Motion is starting to push out version 1.0.7 of its QNX-derived tablet OS.

The new release adds some minor tweaks - at last, the Pictures app will operate with a portrait screen orientation, and you can now zoom into videos - and incorporates are raft of extra languages.

RIM has updated the BlackBerry Bridge app too, giving you the chance to save email attachments coming on on your BlackBerry phone to the tablet's SD storage, and allowing you to view the content attached Zip files.

Oh, and the OS now has shortcuts on the home screen to the BBC's news and iPlayer sites in case you weren't sure how to add them yourself. ®

Hopefully...

...they have added a bit of stability to the otherwise great browser.

It crashed on me multiple times last night trying to buy some stuff from Amazon, which is hardly a difficult site to render.

Still I suppose it saved me a few quid...
