Facebook could be launching long-awaited iPad and iPhone apps next week.

The company's founder Mark Zuckerberg told Reuters [1] that Facebook would "launch something awesome" soon.

However, the boydroid, who this week reportedly signed up to Mountain View's latest social network effort Google+, declined to comment further.

Speculative reports suggest that Facebook's Seattle-based 40-strong team have created an app for Apple's iPad as well as an iPhone photo-sharing app.

Google, meanwhile, announced Google+ this week, which it is "field testing" with a small number of users.

Among the ranks invited to join the yet-to-be-finished product includes a very serious-looking Zuckerberg, according to Forbes [2].

Arguably, he's sizing up the would-be opposition, but given Google's track record with social networking, Zuck hardly needs to be overly concerned. ®
