Requirements Checklist for Choosing a Cloud Backup and Recovery Service Provider

Picks and flicks

Although Nokia noisily subscribes to the religion of Web 2.0, it's got the buzzwords but not the software. Getting onto a social network through a Nokia phone has been much harder than it should be: with one sloppy, dysfunctional client sliding out of Nokia's "Beta" Labs. ("Beta" seems to be Finnish for 'can't write software'). Best of luck to you here, with Nokia Social 1.3 - which gets you to Facebook and Twitter - bundled. Version 1.3 was launched in January and pulled almost immediately.

The multimedia side of things is a lot brighter than before. E-series phones have been fairly perfunctory in this department. The E6 has a full focus, rather than EDoF (extended depth of field) camera, and will shoot 720p HD video at 25fps. The snaps were a treat - perhaps given my low expectations. Colour management seemed quite random, though - a bluish tint here, an orange tint there, inexplicably.

It'll play it all back nicely too. Nokia bundles a very capable Photo Editor, and a Video Editor, with the phone.

Many many people don't want apps

So not sure not having them in 12 months is a problem.

Although the call answer issues is a biggy.

Deja vu all over again

Good to see Nokia trying to develop a natural successor to the E71: a smartphone designed as if battery life mattered.

Bad to see that Nokia still can't design smartphones as if software mattered.

Since I am not interested in an MS phone, I guess my E71 will have to live forever.

(My 6310 tried, but, through no fault of its own, it ended up at the bottom of the river Wey. To avoid a recurrence of this unfortunate outcome, I moved to Germany. So far, so good.)
