Sony has announced all PlayStation network functionality – including access to the PlayStation Store – will be fully restored by the end of the week.

While a few areas in Asia will still have features missing - namely countries with very protective regulatory bodies - those of us in the UK can finally get shopping again. This also means recent titles such as Dirt 3 [1], which requires users to register through the PSN Store, will finally enable users to enjoy on-line gameplay.

On-line services have been down for almost two months after millions of users' details were stolen in the PSN hacking fiasco [2]. Although parts of the service were restored [3] earlier this month, access to the PlayStation store has been unavailable.

With the service back on-line, all of those affected should be handed their promised freebies for the inconvenience [4], which includes a couple of games and trials to other services. ®
