Google relocates Australian AdWords customers
We’re 'upgrading' you from Ireland to Singapore
One of the anchor-tenants of what was formerly the Irish economic miracle, Google, is moving the administration of Australian AdWords customers to Singapore.
In what could be interpreted as a corporate bet on the future of Ireland’s low corporate taxes, the Chocolate Factory told Australian customers of the change on Tuesday.
In its e-mail to AdWords customers, Google said the Asia Pacific region is “expanding rapidly”, which is hardly surprising since this head-office edict will relocate roughly a billion dollars (Australian) of revenue in a matter of weeks.
The change also means that customer agreements will be with Google’s Singaporean outpost, a change which Google describes as an “upgrade”. ®
