Virgin turns on third Tivo tuner

One box, three pick-ups

Virgin Media has begun pushing out an firmware update that will activate the third tuner built into its new, Tivo-branded set-top box.

Most DVRs have two tuners, allowing you to record one channel while watching another. Virgin's box will now let you record three shows at once - assuming, of course, you can find something worth taping - or watch a programme while saving two others to view later.

The box has a 1TB hard drive for show storage.

Virgin promised further updates are in the pipeline. They will bring "more apps, games and services", it said. ®

"3" is that all . . .

My DISH 722k can record two Sat channels, record two OTA channels while watching something that has been recorded. Based on what the article states that makes mine 5 to their 3 (4?). Plus isn't TiVo about to die?
