MWC 2011 Sony Ericsson has officially launched its much-anticipated PlayStation phone - the Xperia Play - confirming the leaks and whetting appetites further with some titillating pre-installed titles.

Revealed at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last night, the Xperia Play is the first smartphone device to run "PlayStation certified" games, accessed through Sony's PlayStation Suite [1].

The Play will arrive with more than 50 titles available as well as six games pre-installed: Crash Bandicoot, Asphalt 6, Bruce Lee, Star Battalion, The Sims 3 and Fifa 10.

In addition, the device will receive Play-only content, which kicks off with exclusive multiplayer capabilities for Fifa.

As expected, the phone has a 4in touchscreen, a 1GHz CPU and runs Android 2.3 [2].

Have a gander at Sony Ericsson's YouTube page [3] for a handful of interviews and taster clips.

The Xperia Play will be available on all major networks [4] when it hits shelves in April. No word on pricing yet, though. ®
