A gadget that may be the next iPad was seen at the launch of decorative, coffee table-friendly newsmagazine The Daily [1] yesterday.

According to the Reuters reporter who spotted the tablet, the only thing he or she could say that was different from the current model was "a front-facing camera at the top edge of the glass screen".

The reporter didn't note the presence [2] of the anticipated mega-speaker [3], rear-facing camera, SD card slot or other extra portage [4] the 'iPad 2' is rumoured to sport.

It's now more than 12 months since Apple announced the original iPad, at a special event on 27 January 2010. The company traditionally updates products annually, so an iPad 2 announcement is expected at any moment. Especially with a heap of competition coming soon.

Apple exec Eddy Cue said the company would shortly make an announcement about in-app subscriptions and the like. Two birds with one stone, you think? ®
