FCO spends £39m with HP

HP took nine per cent of the money spent by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office with its 100 biggest suppliers in 2009-10.

Figures released to Kable under Freedom of Information by the department show that the technology firm topped its supplier list, with Global Crossing coming third with £20m of spending in 2009-10. The department spent a total of £401m with its 100 biggest suppliers in the last financial year.

Figures published last week by the Cabinet Office show that the FCO spent £7.6m with HP from May to September of this year and £1.4m with Global Crossing over the same period.

Other IT vendors that feature on the department's 2009-10 supplier list include CSC, which received £12.2m; Capgemini (£10.3m); Microsoft (£5.6m); Detica (£4.6m); Logica (£3m); Oracle (£2.7m); and Cable and Wireless (£2.3m).

The department also lists £2m of spending with Fujitsu Services; £1.7m with BT; £1.2m with Computacenter; and £900,000 with Steria.
