Maximizing your infrastructure through virtualization

On Demand If you're looking to move your IT operations to more of a service delivery model then we may have just the fillip here.

Last Friday we had The Register's Tim Phillips in a studio with Patrick Ancipink, a service management guru from CA, and Tony Lock, an analyst from our old friends Freeform Dynamics. The three of them set off to pick apart the vision of service delivery and look at what it translates to in terms of stuff you can do now to make your life easier, create happier users, and get more respect’ from business management.

For years, most organisations have been managing the components of IT, with a primary focus on the performance and availability of specific assets. Those who think deeply on such things, however, reckon it’s all changing. In the future, it’s all going to be about services, service portfolios and service portfolio management – i.e. more of a focus on what’s delivered from IT rather than how.

The trouble is that the word ‘services’ is one of the most overloaded in the industry, so while it's easy to throw it into visionary statements about the way IT will be done in a more service-centric way in the future, what exactly does that boil down to? And why should you even care?

If either of these questions is lingering in your mind, or if you are involved in IT operations and support and simply want to get a handle on a bunch of ideas that are likely to hit you at some point, like it or not, then this event is for you. You can watch it for free right here. ®
