The founder of Google-owned AdMob has quit the company citing “personal reasons”.

Omar Hamoui walked from Mountain View on Friday, nearly a year after Google announced plans to buy AdMob for $750m. It finally took over the outfit in May when the US Federal Trade Commission dropped its probe of the acquisition of the mobile ad network.

Google confirmed to TechCrunch [1] on Friday that AdMob’s CEO had resigned due to private matters.

“He built a fantastic business in a short period of time, and we wish him all the best,” Google said in a statement. “Mobile advertising – across search and display – is now a billion-dollar business for Google, with AdMob a key part of that.”

Hamoui wasn’t the only high-profile founder of a company acquired by Google to walk away from the firm late last week.

As we reported earlier, YouTube co-founder Chad Hurley [2] stood down from day-to-day running of the popular video sharing site. ®
