MS confirms Zune for Mac

Sync WinPho 7 handsets

Microsoft has confirmed earlier staff Tweets that a Mac version of its Zune desktop software is on its way.

It's all about syncing up WinPho 7 handsets rather than iPod clones these days, of course, and with Microsoft well aware it needs to be inclusive if it wants its revamped smartphone OS to succeed, Mac compatibility is no great surprise.

The software will arrive later this year in the form of a "public beta", allowing Mac owners to test Microsoft's application for free, transferring "select content" in the process. ®
