It's official: Nokia has delayed the release of its N8 smartphone by a month.

Originally set to ship [1] direct from Nokia at the end of September, with operators getting the handset early in October, Nokia's UK N8 pre-order page [2] now says the device will arrive at the "end of October".

Tweets from operator insiders and analysts [3], and other rumours had hinted at N8 software problems, but Nokia has only said that it is holding the handset back in order to "ensure a great user experience", according to the company, by way of [4] Dutch-language site All About Nokia Phones.

The Pamela Anderson-promoted [5] handset promises "flick scrolling and pinch-to-zoom, plus a faster and more responsive user interface", along with a 12Mp camera capable of recording HD video. It has HDMI output.
