Gears of War 3 release date unveiled

You have 12 months to prepare

Epic Games has confirmed that Gears of War 3 will be coming to the Xbox 360 a year from now.

The shooter will be based on Epic's Unreal Engine 3 and will appear exclusively on the Microsoft console.

Gears of War 3

"When we released Gears of War more than three years ago, we set out to tell the world an unforgettable story of bravery and sacrifice in the face of insurmountable odds, and a year from now, players will get the chance to experience the final chapter in the story," said Cliff Bleszinski, Epic's Design Director.

He also made some promises about the new release being bigger and better than the last one, but then he would say that, wouldn't he?

Still, the series has been hugely popular and well rated, and even more of the same will be welcome to a legion of Xbox gamers.

Gears of War 3 is set for release across Europe on 8 April 2011. ®

Meh...

Same old rehash, a whole year away. Will Microsoft still have any Xbox customers left? Perhaps they will sell this game with a forced hardware upgrade or something to generate more cash from stupid gamers.
