French railway operator SNCF has apologised after its website earlier today announced a major disaster involving a TGV, which left 102 dead and 380 injured.
According to French media [1], the alert just before noon fingered "an explosion of unknown origin today on board TGV 1234, close to Mâcon".
SNCF now admits [2] "this never happened", explaining the message was "part of a technical trial to test crisis management procedures" which "should not have been released". ®
