Microsoft delivers official Word on Office 2010 'tech guarantee' plan
Readies Maypole for biz launch
Microsoft has kicked off its Office 2010 "technology guarantee" plan, details of which the company prematurely let slip in February.
In addition Redmond also confirmed late last week that it would roll out the red carpet for its upcoming suite of office products with a business launch planned for 12 May.
The company is offering customers who buy Office 2007 between 5 March and 30 September a free upgrade to an equivalent edition of Office 2010. Microsoft will also sell punters a DVD containing the software for an undisclosed fee.
"Were [sic] excited to confirm that Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010 and Project 2010 are on schedule and will release to manufacturing (RTM) next month," added Microsoft in a blog post.
"For businesses, we will launch the 2010 set of products, including Office 2010, SharePoint 2010, Visio 2010, and Project 2010 worldwide on 12 May."
Consumers can expect a retail version of Office 2010, which isn't a major upgrade from its 2007 predecessor but will include 64-bit versions of the software for the first time, to land in June. ®
