Microsoft has apparently killed a Microsoft employee's blog posting eulogizing its planned successor to Windows 7.

The MSDN post that was here and has been cached here, according to Microsoft Kitchen, was thin on details but provided possibly the first hint of how Microsoft plans to pitch the successor to Windows 7.

Why is this the dominant theme?

Microsoft Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) regional vice president for consumer and online John Mangelaars has apparently told CIO magazine that "Windows 8 will be mind-blowing."

Why should we be listening to this and subsequently screening it out? Because, Microsoft is very good at building a drumbeat of coordinated messaging. Prior to the launch of Windows Vista it was the "wow" and on Windows 7 it's all been about the "performance." It sounds like the start of the new campaign to seed the market.

The unnamed Microsoft blogger caught by Microsoft Kitchen apparently wrote: "The themes that have been floated truly reflect what people have been looking for years and it will change the way people think about PCs and the way they use them. It is the future of PCs..."

The blog post credited to Windows and Windows Live group president Steven Sinofsky - who shepherded Windows 7 to a successful, if unexciting, conclusion - with putting processes in place to help deliver Windows 8.

"I am simply impressed with the process that Steven has setup to listen to our customers needs and wants and get a team together than can make it happen. To actually bring together dozens and dozens of teams across Microsoft to come up with a vision for Windows.next is a process that is surreal," the blogger is said to have written. ®
