Nokia may have designed a futuristic handset on a par with Motorola’s wacky Aura or any number of Vertu’s pricy phones, according to what's claimed to be a leaked internal video.

A CGI video mock-up of the phone – thought to be called Erdos – has been leaked online. The device’s looks have already led many to speculate that Nokia has selected the handset as a replacement for its existing 8800 [2] device.

For example, Erdos features the same pull down keyboard cover as the one found on the 8800. However, do this on Erdos and you will be met by a “revolutionary raising keyboard”, the video states.

Erdos’ screen ‘appears’ on the phone’s silver surface – just above the keyboard. The video refers to this feature as a “Go-silver OLED display”.

Quite how this works isn’t yet clear. One explanation is that the silver surface above Erdos’ display can transform into a transparent state, revealing the OLED screen underneath.

Team this up with “tap-sensitive controls” and a rear-mounted 5Mp camera, and Nokia may have designed itself a sure-fire seller to WAGs, bankers and company executives.

Erdos is rumoured to have 8GB of internal memory – yet no expansion slot. The video also shows the phone slotting into what looks like an oddly shaped docking unit with stick-out speaker.

Since Nokia hasn’t officially confirmed Erdos’ existence yet, a launch date or price isn’t known. ®
