Nokia has confirmed recent rumours that it has designed a rugged mobile phone.
Last month, a picture [1] appeared online of a device thought to be the firm’s first rugged phone with an IP-54 toughness classification. Aside from a possible moniker, the 3720, the leaked picture was all we had to go by.
Now Nokia has posted two videos that show its workers putting the phone through two unorthodox toughness trials.
In one video, a man is shown using kicking the handset to another person, after which the pair tried to make a call through to the phone. Did it still work? Yes, it did.

And in a second video, the same man opts to replace a golf ball with the handset in question. After whacking it with a nine iron, the phone still worked.

Unfortunately, the Nokia reps didn’t reveal anything about the phone’s features or give away its model number, but check out the videos (above) for yourself and you’ll soon see the similarities between the recently leaked handset and the phone tested. ®
