The US's Obama-prompted human spaceflight review has opened its doors to public participation. A dedicated website (http://www.nasa.gov/offices/hsf/home/index.html) allows the unwashed masses to keep tabs on the independent committee's ruminations and chip in their two bits' worth.

The site invites comments and suggestions which might help chairman Norman Augustine and his "blue-ribbon panel of experts" decide, for example, whether NASA's Constellation Program (http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/constellation/main/) is indeed the way to go.

There's also a Flickr gallery (http://www.nasa.gov/offices/hsf/home/gallery.html) and, inevitably, a Twitter presence (http://twitter.com/NASA_HSF), which is currently punting a poll (http://hsf.nasa.gov/qa.php) on which questions Joe Public would like the committee to answer.

The next public event on the review's agenda is a meeting from 9am - 5pm EDT on 17 June at the Carnegie Institution for Science, 1530 P Street NW, Washington DC. No pre-registration is required, and interested citizens will be admitted until the venue's seating capacity is filled. ®
