Apple double takes on shaken babies

Stop your app-ing...

The Essential Guide to IT Transformation

Apple can't seem to decide what constitutes unacceptable content, permitting and then pulling the Baby Shaker app in some weird kind of hokey-cokey.

The game, which features a pencil drawing of a baby and crying sounds that only stop when the handset is shaken, was put into the iTunes store at 99 cents, before being pulled a couple of hours later, once the media noticed.

The game, which is apparently rather dull to play, promoted complaints from "Stop Shaken Baby Syndrome Inc", the founder of which (unsurprisingly) found the whole thing incredibly offensive. This, it seems, was enough to get it pulled.

Relatives of people killed in gang violence might therefore like to have a go at getting War Lords withdrawn, while those with friends in the forces could have a go at Brothers In Arms. Here at Vulture Central we're very sensitive to ovine welfare and can no longer tolerate Sheep Abduction being sold for entertainment purposes.

Baby Shaker is obviously in very poor taste, but if taste were a guide, the App Store would be an awful lot smaller. Although that would probably be no bad thing. ®
